Wohnwerk Weiche B on Bismarckplatz in Mainz takes its name from two design ideas: on the one hand, the residential complex with four urban building blocks is positioned against the existing edge of the new town – like a switch that connects the campus and its direct catchment areas with the new town. The floor plans are also organized as clusters using the same principle with which the ensemble is grouped around a center. Courtyards, communal gardens, foyers and access zones combine the residential and office units as flexible generation and co-working spaces.
